Badging

The UM3D Lab tries give everyone an opportunity to learn what they want to learn and be recognized for the effort. This is why we have developed a series of micro-credentials (i.e. badges) that students use to build skills, get access to new resources, and have new experiences around emerging technologies.

  • Learn about Requirements

    Visit MBlem to learn about particular badges and their criteria. (MBlem Website)
  • Build your New Skills

    Learn a new skill through sponsored workshops, learning resources below, or coming in and talking to us.
  • Submit the Criteria

    Submit your criteria through MBlem. We will then take a look and work with you to make it as good as it can be.
  • Receive your Badge

    Receive your award for access to high-end resources, expertise, and opportunities to work on amazing projects.

Novice

Obtaining Novice level means you have demonstrated a general understanding of 3D Modeling & Animation terminology and industry pipelines.

Beginner

Obtaining Beginner level means you understand the use of tools in this field and have demonstrated the ability for basic modeling and animation.

Capable

Obtaining a badge at this level represents your ability to effectively apply tools of the field to a real-world problem. Those at this level can choose to participate in the paid contract/freelance work program for members of the U-M community. (i.e. get notified of gigs/jobs requiring these skills)

Novice

Obtaining a badge at this level represents your understanding of 3D printing, how it’s used, and common techniques used for research, manufacturing, and innovation..

Beginner

Obtaining a badge at this level indicates experience working directly with 3D Printing technologies and applying basic concepts.

Novice

Obtaining a badge at this level indicates an understanding of visualization techniques, tools, and how it’s used for research, education, and communication.

Beginner

Obtaining a badge at this level shows a demonstrated ability to apply basic visualization concepts to real data.

Capable

Obtaining a badge at this level represents your ability to effectively apply tools of the field to a real-world problem. Those at this level can reserve resources for their own projects and/or choose to participate in the paid contract/freelance work program for members of the U-M community. (i.e. get notified of gigs/jobs requiring these skills)

Beginner

Obtaining a badge at this level indicates experience working directly with Motion Capture technologies and conducting a capture session.

Novice

Obtaining a badge at this level represents your understanding of 3D capturing techniques and uses.

Beginner

Obtaining a badge at this level represents an ability to utilize the technology and work with the resulting data.

Novice

Obtaining a badge at this level represents your understanding of design fundamentals and uses.

Beginner

Obtaining a badge at this level represents the ability to utilize the design fundamentals in working with digital tools.
