Rachel Miller, computer consultant and resident Xbox Kinect expert, organized a session on computer science for the Girl Research Engineering and Technology (G.R.E.A.T.) day on April 13. Sponsored by the Society of Women Engineers at the University of Michigan, the girls spent a day learning about engineering and technology at the University of Michigan, and touring the resources available on campus. Throughout the day Rachel showed the girls, about 200 in total, around the 3D Lab. She demonstrated her work with the Kinect, and introduced the students to 3D printing, 3D movies, and other visualization services.
